KEEPER/MOON CUP CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

We are very excited to announce that we received such an overwhelming response to our Keeper/Moon Cup Contest (nearly 100 women entered) that we simply could NOT choose ONE best entry. No matter how hard we tried, the best we could do was to narrow it to TEN winners, and even that was almost impossible.

We’re giving away TEN MENSTRUAL CUPS!!!

We are amazed and delighted that so many women are so conscious of both their bodies AND the environment. And several women pointed out that, although purchasing a reusable menstrual cup requires a bigger cash outlay upfront, the cost savings over time becomes substantial with the reusable route. (See The Keeper’s Comparison Photo Page, which shows both the WASTE and COST savings we can all aspire to by using reusable menstrual products.)

Because of the huge response (85 women entered online, and another 12 entered by email), we are HOLDING THIS CONTEST AGAIN, and will be accepting entries between August 15 and September 15. The number of people we declare as winners will be determined by the quality and the number of the entries we receive.

IF YOU DIDN’T WIN THIS TIME, WE URGE YOU TO ENTER AGAIN. Because there were so many excellent entries, there is a good chance you will win. Of course, if you did win this time, we cannot accept another entry from you. Sorry. We know you’d like to share your good fortune with friends and relatives. But, please urge them to purchase a menstrual cup. They can buy one from The Keeper’s website, as well as from any of our many distributors. Just do a search for “keeper menstrual cup” on google.

And, you could also spread the word by telling your friends and relatives about the contest, and urging them to enter, too.

There will be a new contest post that you can enter to win on August 15, 2009, so please come back then to enter that contest!

I would love to win a menstrual cup as I hate knowing that I am contributing to landfill using standard menstrual products and am horrified at the thought of the chemicals, fibres and other hazards tampax can cause. However as a struggling single mum with an income way below the poverty line and no support I simply don’t have the outlay for a cup at this time (having allergies creating a very expensive diet doesn’t help either!). Please help me sleep peacefully at night knowing I am not adding to the world’s problems, nor risking my own health, by helping me lose my menstrual cup virginity. I regret not hearing about them sooner as I only discovered their existence today (literally!) and was previously totally unaware that there even existed an alternative to standard products. Why aren’t these amazing products widely publicised and advertised? Surely it is in everyone’s benefit to create awareness amongst women and to enable them to make an informed choice, so why isn’t the government doing more about this? It not only benefits women in general (and pretty much everyone has a mother, sister, aunt, niece, daughter or grandma and so it directly affects most of us whether female or not), but it also would save the government money, not just the cost of dealing with the increase in landfill, but it would save public money that is currently spent on dealing with the health issues created by standard products and this money could be spent elsewhere, again benefiting everyone. And on top of that of course, is the very real, and very important issue of protecting our environment by reducing landfill and the number of chemical ridden products that exist – something that will affect us, our children, our grandchildren and future generations to come – the world is all our homes after all. It is a win, win situation to publicize these products and even, I would go so far as to say, to have them made available on prescription. Why hasn’t someone started a public campaign about creating awareness of these life-giving products…..or have I been living in a bubble of ignorance?? It makes my blood boil to think of all the women putting themselves at risk unnecessarily and the unnecessary damage to the environment but the government is doing nothing – and yet the resolution is so simple – as simple as a cup, a menstrual cup!!!”

Got my cup today! Yay! :) That was pretty fast shipping. I thought my period was over, but an hour or two after I got my cup, it suddenly started back up again! lol. Sometimes that happens with me, about every 3rd cycle. I was so excited that I got to try it out today, excellent timing! Its REALLY comfortable, and no leaking. This is a great product! I love it, love it, LOVE IT!! I’m gonna carry this thing everywhere with me, its like my favorite thing now, lol. I put up a review in the LiveJournal menstrual cup discussion board, with pictures and everything, if anyone is interested. Go to http://www.menatrualcups.org. Also, usually on my last day, is when I have my worst cramps, but… None today! Nice not having to pop pain killers for a change. To anyone who has never tried a cup– please get one!
