Good tips. I admit, I am guilty of it sometimes but I don't think I get obsessed. Just extremely interested maybe :)

Live smartly, know that God is in control and if you follow Him He will take care of you. Only buy what you will eat. Do research on how to live frugally. I love making things from scratch and getting the best deal I can get but I don't sew clothes. So, I make sure I only buy fabric for things that I WILL make. I guess what I am trying to say is learn to be frugal because that way you don't have to work so hard outside of the home but DON'T live in fear. Please read my Tightwad Tuesday posts and you will see it is a lifestyle for me. I didn't start it in fear but to stay in control of my life. If I do what I can for myself then I don't have to pay someone else. We only stock on on food that we will use in time.

Here is my link to all my TWT's There is over a years worth of posts. [0=

I don't know If I was answering your question but I felt I was suppose to share this with you.

Blessings in Him<

K-money- thanks for the tips! I will put them to use. :)

Miss M- I need to avoid it. I think that is my best way of dealing with it. I feel stupid for buying that much rice and beans. ;)

Ericka Totorico- I think it is obsessive too. I need to work on it. It's good to know I am not alone!

Sounds more like obsessive. I do the same thing from time to time, just different issues.

I think stay away from the survivalist discussions and you'll be OK. It's easy to get swept up in the paranoia, though keeping some staples on hand is a good policy at any time. The problem I see is one of storage, to keep fed through months of unrest would mean tons of rice and beans. It will go bad eventually.

1. Avoid situations where I will be tempted. For example, I smoked every time I went to a bar and strongly associated the two things so when I quit smoking I stopped going to bars.

2. Prepare for temptation. I don't go the grocery store when I am hungry because that is when the temptation for Hostess is so hard to resist. I don't go when I am really full, either; then I will come home with nothing.

3. Forgive myself for the occasional transgression. If I don't then I hate myself and if I hate myself I am more likely to do things that hurt me, like give in to temptation. It is a vicious cycle.

There's more, but that is my short list.
