You know, that’s the main reason I waited is because I worried so much about whether or not someone would like what I got them that I ended up just giving them money! I am on the clutter free kick too. I hope it sticks.

No shopping here yet, either. People don’t like “stuff” you get them. I’ve been in a baking mood this year, so at least they are “clutter-free.” Handmade cards for others. Have requested gift-cards and cash for clutter free gifts for the kids.

That’s funny. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who doesn’t go all out buying gifts for Christmas! I feel so fortunate to have a job, a home, and a loving family!

This year I’ve pared my Christmas list down to just two people (it gets shorter every year!): my mom and my boyfriend. I ordered 2 little things online for my mom, one thing for my boyfriend online, and bought the BF something in person too. So I’m all set (though, waiting for one of the online presents to arrive). No one else I’d normally buy presents for needs more stuff, and I need to put my money towards my debt. If I had more money, I’d contribute it to a needy family I know, but don’t want to increase my debt to do so…

LOL. Well, the funny thing is, my family doesn’t do get togethers or exchange gifts or anything like that. I usually do get my mother something, and I’ve already got that together for her. I usually try to send a gift to my two sisters who I’m closest to (the ones 2 and 4 years younger than me), and I send Christmas cards most years. The last couple of years I’ve sent out a lot of cards, in past years I have only sent strictly to my mother and siblings. Then there’s our immediate family. Mr. A doesn’t get into Christmas and Big A doesn’t care too much either. It’s usually AJ who is looking forward to gifts. I haven’t bought anything for him at all. I actually have a Wii game for Big A that I ordered a month or so ago. Today I’m finishing up the crocheted slippers I made for my friend and her little girl (if I can just remember where I put the little girl’s slippers that are already completely done!). And I have a few more cards to send out. 90% of them went out several days ago. I spent more money on people at my job, than my mom and sibs, that’s nuts!

Hi there. Long time reader, first time commentor! My husband and I hummed and hawed over what to do for Christmas this year. We don’t want or need anything and no one we know wants or needs anything (other than more money of course). Then we found out we’re expecting our first baby next summer and we decided to just make personalized Christmas cards sharing the news and bypass any gift giving or receiving. As much as I’d love to exchange gifts with everyone, it just wouldn’t be financially feasible this year. We’re looking forward to the family get togethers, dinners and games, that’s all that matters for us!
