Free Money from Costco with Executive Membership
This is a guest post from Ashley at Wide Open Wallet. She is an avid Costco member, just like me! Make sure you have the chance to subscribe to her feed. Here’s her story on how she benefited from having an executive membership with Costco.
Last month we got our cash back from our Costco Executive Membership. We got $91 back. Aww Yeah. It was more than we were expecting. When we got the Executive Membership originally it was my goal to get back $100 so that we would get our membership for free. At the time I didn’t think it was possible. But as you can see, we came pretty close. So I’m excited that our membership is only going to cost us $9 this year.
With the Costco Executive Membership you get 2% cash back. Which means that since the beginning of May we have spent $1,800 at Costco, not counting gas. Wow.
Anyways, in June we signed up for the American Express Business Card. We have really made a go of using this card. We use it for absolutely everything. Our cash back is coming in our statement this month and it’s going to be $330. Wohoo! We started using the card July 1st, so we earned $330 in just 7 months (Beginning of July through the end of January). Love it!
That’s a grand total of $421 in free money.
The check from Costco just got absorbed into our budget for February. I didn’t set it aside for anything specific, which is very unlike me. The $330 I think we might put into our vacation fund which will bring our total up to about $550. Score!

We have an executive membership and a Costco American express as well. Last month, we got $300something cash back from the AmEx card. I use the money we get (we have another cash-back credit card, too) for my “hubby gift fund.” Being a homemaker with no outside income, it is a treat to be able to get my husband gifts–sometimes nice ones!–(Father’s Day, birthday, etc.) that did not cost him anything.

Sarah- That is great you got that much money back! I also love your idea about setting that money aside. Good thinking!
