They do come out clean. I make sure to soap them up well. I don’t carry them home from restaurants either, haha.

I have heard of glass straws but haven’t really looked into them. I need to. Thanks for the link!

I don’t really have an opinion, I don’t use straws at home. Do they clean up OK, I guess as long as it’s not gross I’ll go with frugal rather than cheap.

I couldn’t vote on this one. I’ve decided that neither cheap or frugal would be an answer to this question. Does this make sense? It seems to me you’re making a “green” choice here. Have you heard of glass straws? Although, I’ve never used them, as I just found out about them a couple months ago, they sound like a wonderful alternative. Check out this site: http://www.glassdharma.com. There are other sites/companies that sell them, too, but this was the first one I had read about on another blog.
