Tiffanie!! I LOVE Boulder!! That is my absolute favorite place in the world. Please go eat at Bim Bamboo. We had the best meal there ever and it is not too expensive!

I hope you both can find employment soon. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Enjoy Boulder!

Wow! Now I am thinking my insurance is kind of crappy. I'm a little mad they are only offering HDHP and PPOs. Blah!

Yours rocks. I can't believe all you had to pay was $280. That's great!

I think you are wise to go with the better health plan. We have a PPO and it's great -- and having lower deductibles is a blessing, especially if you're thinking about a baby! (Now that's an exciting project!)

NOW I have to say Thank You for your kind words about our house! She is indeed a loved and happy old gal -- a little in need of paint and some work on her shutters, but hey, we all have our issues, right?

Have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Ah, sadly I am without health insurance right now. I am unemployed at the moment!! Argh! My hubby and I moved to Boulder, CO a couple weeks ago and I've not found employment yet. (Him either...) I know it can take longer than two weeks but I'm so antsy!!

Before though- I was the only one covered. I had a $1000 deductible and $30 copays with $15 generic drug copay. I paid too much per check (every 2 weeks they took like 100-something) and there was no way we could afford to add my hubby to the insurance. It's so frustrating! Even though I had insurance, I never went to the doctor or chiropractor because we still couldn't afford it.

We have an HMO. It costs $250/month for the three of us, which I think is pretty darn good. It has $20/copays and $30 for specialists.

BUT. It's amazing for the big-ticket things. I had surgery this summer and I didn't even have a copay for it. It was outpatient and totally covered.

Also, my childbirth class ($250) was fully reimbursed. And my midwife care, prenatal checkups and ultrasounds, and delivery and hospital stay were SO cheap. My end was $280 for all of that.

The bill was $10k, and insurance picked up most of that. With a PPO I'd have to pay at least $2k.

So even though it's a little more per month than a high deductible plan would be, I just think it's worth it and probably saves us in the long run.
