Taking Advantage of Black Friday Sales!

Last week, I received a coupon from Home Depot for 10% off a purchase of $299 or more, plus 12 months no interest, no payments. Yesterday Mr. Money and I went out to Home Depot to look at purchasing a new dishwasher. It has been over a year since our old one broke! We had decided that we would purchase a stainless steel dishwasher to match our stainless steel fridge. Our thinking was that if we do sell our house in a year or two then it would be nice to have working, matching appliances for when we show the house. We picked out a pretty nice dishwasher (same brand as our refrigerator), and then checked out. As we were checking out, buyer’s remorse started setting in. Do we really need a new dishwasher? I can wash dishes by hand (although I am so tired of it and I think it uses more water). It’s a recession, and we should save as much money as we can. Etc. The dishwasher was on Black Friday sale price for $498. We bought [...]

Sunday Round Up

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a round up. I’m spending my Sunday watching football, cleaning, knitting, doing laundry and relaxing.  It’s the first weekend I’ve been home in a few weeks!  It feels nice to be home. Here are some posts I enjoyed this week: Miss M had a scare where she thought someone stole her checkbook from her house. Thank goodness nothing really happened! Baker at Man vs Debt shares his thoughts at Get Rich Slowly on being thankful. Tis the season! I love J Money from Budgets are Sexy’s Mexican fisherman story.  How true is this? Mrs. Accountability shares her excellent strategy for saving money on prescriptions. It seems like prescription drugs just keep getting more expensive! Mrs. Micah had an awesome November. She truly is an amazing woman! Learn how to get free yoga on your iPod from FruGal. PT reviews the Chase Sapphire card. I’m drawn to it just because it’s my birthstone! Have a lovely week everyone! I’ve got some great things to share with you next week, including a giveaway!

While he may end up being right, who can actually predict what’s going to happen in the future? Were there many people who predicted the Great Recession of 2009? One of the latest videos he forwarded to me carried the following message: buy whatever you want to now while the dollar is still worth something, because in a few months it’s going to take a lot more dollars to buy whatever object you’re interested in. It does make sense; if the dollar’s value declines horribly in a few months, then we’ll probably all be kicking ourselves that we didn’t buy that flat screen tv or that new laptop. I totally understand this theory, and part of me wants to run out and buy that flat screen tv so I am ahead of the game, so to speak. At this moment though, [...]
