Unexpected Snowflakes in April!

Today is an awesome day. When I got home from work this evening, I checked my mail, and in it I found an unexpected check from Cash Crate! I had no idea I was going to be receiving this check, so this extra $21.07 is a chunk of change I’ll have to play with.  When I logged into my email, I was also surprised with a paypal payment from Expo tv! I got a $50 bonus payment for making a video about our alcohol consumption (believe me, it wasn’t that exciting because we’re not big drinkers). I also got my payment for my video views, which was $3.14 but still nice because I didn’t have to do any work to get it. I made $74.21 today and had no idea it was coming.  What a great start to the weekend! I’m trying to decide what I’m going to do with it, and most likely I’ll be putting it in my savings account.  I can always decide later what I’ll do with it. I’m glad I signed up for these different [...]

Making my House a Home

I’ve decided that since most likely we’ll be in this house for awhile longer that I’m going to make the best of it.  I’m going to do things myself to this house that will make it more my style and make me feel better about it.  I can’t move across country today, so I’ll have to give it some time and see how we feel in about six months.  Sometimes I lack patience, and everyone knows you need patience to survive life, so I’m going to learn some patience too. One of the things that’s been bothering me about this house is the carpet.  As I mentioned before, on Saturday I decided to rip up the carpet in our office.  It was really old and worn.  I am a little bit of a germophobe too, and I cleaned that carpet numerous times but it just wouldn’t make it.  Up it came. I really wanted to just refinish the hardwoods underneath, but they were in such bad shape that we couldn’t do it.  We went to Home Depot, purchased some luaun, [...]

Sunday Link Love!

Well, I went and did something crazy this weekend. In an effort to try to love my house, I decided to rip up the carpet in my office.  Who knows how old it was, and I knew there was hardwood underneath but didn’t know what shape it’s in.  Needless to say, it’s either refinish that floor or just put laminate over it.  What I thought would be a weekend project has now turned into a longer one.  I can only focus on how exciting it will be when it’s done! Here are my favorite posts this week: Kacie at Sense to Save is thinking about moving!  I hope she can get a good deal on her new rent. Miss M at M is for Money lists her favorite frugal dinners.  I love that they are veggie-friendly. J. Money at Budgets are Sexy talks about the anti-tax tea parties that took place last week. Ashley at Wide Open Wallet asks if there really is good debt. Stay tuned this week for a video of me pulling my hair out over this [...]
