Make your Own Cloth Grocery Bags out of old T-Shirts

One of my biggest pet peeves is having all those darn plastic grocery bags strewn all over my pantry.  I also hate that they take up room in the landfill, basically never disintegrating.  When I go grocery shopping (or any other store as well), I always try to remember to bring a cloth grocery bag with me.  Sometimes I forget and I’ll go without a bag if it’s just a few items and I can carry them.  The other day I went through my closet and discovered I had a bunch of old t shirts that had holes in them or some other problem.  I wanted to come up with a creative way to reuse them, and that I did! I made them into cute cloth grocery bags!  When Mr. Money first saw my finished project on the floor, he said “Oh! There’s that cute shirt I like of yours!” and as I hesitated to respond he noticed that I had cut it up and made it into a cloth bag.  I was glad I didn’t have to give away [...]

My Frugal Furniture Fudge Up

For ‘Fess up Friday I told you all how I had “ghettofied” my old tv stand. After a few comments about it, I decided I would show you all my frugal fudge-up. You are welcome to LOL with me if you’d like. This is an example of where “frugal” becomes “CHEAP”.  It’s okay, I realize my problem and I am working on it. Here is the before picture. I hated how tall it was, and the fake press board wood plastic sticker stuff (how’s that for technicality?) got STICKY. It was so gross; no matter what I did I couldn’t keep it clean. Plus, the top was a nice little dust trap. And I hate dusting! And here’s the picture after I massacred it with my handy dandy jigsaw. Yeah.  My reasoning was that I was going to give it away anyway, so why not try to make it into a piece of furniture we may like?  If it’s really bad (like it is) then we can just get rid of it. And here’s the worst part. I guess I [...]

Choosing Customer Service over Cost

I’ve had over 7 years now working in some form of customer service.  I believe that when I am a consumer at a business I should be treated as if I am a valued client and that my business is appreciated.  That’s how I try to handle all my customer interactions. It’s also no surprise that I’m very frugal and don’t like spending extra money unless it’s absolutely necessary.  One thing that I will spend extra money on is good customer service, whether it be for a haircut, restaurant service, or blog hosting. I’ve been having so much traffic with my blog that I’ve had to upgrade my hosting package with my host three times.  I’ve been on pins and needles worrying about whether they were going to transfer everything in time so my site wouldn’t go down.  After I was upgraded to the highest package they offer, I decided that I would be looking for another host.  I wanted one that would provide excellent customer service.  I am now a customer of LunarPages, and couldn’t be happier. Being frugal [...]
